The celebrations are being held under the theme, “Embracing Our Sovereignty with Hope and Visionary Leadership,” and will recognise 20 Ugandans for their contributions to the country.
Among the recipients is President Museveni, who is set to receive the Order of the Commander-in-Chief (Uganda Prisons Service Medal) in recognition of his leadership and contribution to peace and security.
Hajjat Zamina Malole, Chancellor of the Presidential Awards Committee in the Office of the President, confirmed the award.
According to the committee, the medal is awarded to heads of state and government in recognition of visionary leadership and efforts to promote peace and security in Uganda, the East African region and Africa.
