The Omukama of Tooro, His Majesty Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I, has appointed Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire as the kingdom’s interim Prime Minister (Muhikirwa) for six months as the cultural institution reorganises its administration under the new reign.

Rwomiire, who previously served as Prime Minister during the reign of the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, will oversee the transition during the six-month period.

The appointment was announced by Paul Nyakaana Businge, the Principal Private Secretary and spokesperson to the Omukama, during a briefing with journalists at Karuzika Palace in Fort Portal City.

Nyakaana said the interim appointment is intended to facilitate the transition and ensure continuity in the administration of the kingdom.

The Omukama also appointed an 11-member interim advisory committee to support the administration during the transition.

The committee comprises Erisa Kakyomya, Peace Mutuuzo, Chris Kaijuka, Isaiah Mayombo, Benald Tungwako, Flavia Kabahenda, Aston Kajara, Binta Kasoojo, Abdullah Mangalija, William Byaruhanga and Monica Rubombora.

In a related appointment, the King reappointed Musuuga Mujwera Charles Kamurasi Kayondo Akiiki as head of the Babiito Royal Clan and appointed Kato Benard Rwakatale as his deputy.

The appointments establish an interim administrative structure as the kingdom adjusts to the new reign following the death of Omukama Oyo on August 27, 2026.

Omukama Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I was installed as the new Omukama of Tooro on September 29, 2026.
