Kazo murder toll rises to 14 as MP calls for security reinforcement

The number of people killed in a recent wave of murders in Kazo District has risen to 14 following the killing of a 37-year-old man in Bwizi Buremba.

The latest victim, identified as Amos Nuwagira, was reportedly attacked and killed last night, with his motorcycle taken by the assailants.

The killing has renewed concerns over the security situation in the district, with residents and local leaders calling for urgent intervention to prevent further loss of life.

Kazo County MP Dan Kimosho has urged the government to reinforce security in the district, including increasing the number of security personnel deployed to support police operations.

Kimosho said the continued killings were becoming a serious concern and called for immediate action to protect residents and restore security.

“The people of Kazo deserve protection from the state,”  Kimosho said, while questioning how many more people would have to be killed before stronger measures are taken.

The latest incident comes shortly after a district security engagement meeting convened to address the rising number of homicide cases in Kazo.

The meeting brought together security officials, local government leaders, intelligence officers and community representatives to assess the causes of the killings and devise measures to curb the trend.

Police have not yet issued details on the circumstances surrounding Nuwagira’s death or indicated whether any suspects have been arrested.
