Police in Rukungiri District have arrested a 17-year-old boy suspected of fatally stabbing a 21-year-old man following a disagreement at a playground in Buyanja Sub-county.

The deceased, identified as Nshabaruhanga Clinton, a resident of Kyenshero Cell, Nyabiteete Parish, was allegedly stabbed in the neck at Kanombe Primary School playground at about 6pm on October 31.

According to police, the suspect, Ainamani Criscent, who comes from the same area, allegedly attacked Nshabaruhanga following a minor disagreement.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Karoli Lwanga Hospital in Nyakibale, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said the suspect had been arrested and detained at Rukungiri Central Police Station as investigations into the incident continue.

Tumushime said the suspect would be produced in court once investigations are complete.

Police commended community members and local leaders for providing information that led to the suspect's arrest.
