UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo announced the timetables on Tuesday during a briefing at the Uganda Media Centre, where he also provided an update on candidate registration for the three national examinations.
The UCE examinations will start with the briefing of candidates on October 8, while PLE candidates will be briefed on October 30 before sitting their examinations on November 3 and 4.
For UACE, candidate briefing will be held on November 6, with the examinations running until December 5.
Dr Odongo said 1,627,885 candidates have provisionally registered for the three examinations, representing a 14.9 per cent increase compared with last year.
The number of candidates has increased across all three examination levels, with PLE registration rising by 12.4 per cent, UCE by 16.4 per cent and UACE recording the highest increase at 22.5 per cent.
Of the candidates registered for the 2026 examinations, 52 per cent are female and 48 per cent are male, while 6,090 candidates have been registered as learners with special educational needs.
UNEB has directed heads of examination centres to ensure that every candidate receives a copy of the relevant examination timetable.
Centre heads have also been instructed to verify candidates’ registration details and ensure that any errors are corrected before the examinations begin.
As part of efforts to promote inclusive assessment, UNEB has prepared Braille versions of the UCE and UACE timetables for candidates with visual impairments.
The 2026 examinations will be conducted under the theme: “Advancing Excellence in Assessment and Certification through Secure, Credible, Inclusive and Innovative Processes.”
