Police investigate sudden death of comedian Kapere Lufotose

Police are investigating the sudden death of Ugandan comedian and entertainer Yokana Mbuuse, popularly known as Kapere Lufotose, who collapsed while visiting his child at Jolibo Junior School in Nansove, Wakiso District.

Kapere reportedly collapsed on Sunday while accompanying his wife to the school for a visitation day that coincided with a graduation ceremony for pupils in the top class.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala confirmed the incident, saying police received a report of the sudden death from the school's director.

Preliminary police findings indicate that Kapere was rushed to Zamzam Hospital for medical attention before being referred to Royal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kawala said a post-mortem examination would be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Kapere rose to prominence through his performances with the Amarula Family comedy group, alongside fellow comedians Amooti and Messe Bontwe, becoming one of the familiar faces in Uganda's comedy and entertainment industry.

His death has drawn attention to the sudden loss of a prominent figure in the country's entertainment scene.
