The deceased, identified as Tindiwegi Medius, was a resident of Nyakashozi Cell, Bukorwe Parish.
According to police, her husband, Yeremia Bakunzi, last saw her at about 8pm on October 29, when she reportedly told him she was going to buy tobacco.
Bakunzi reportedly waited for her to return, but she did not. He later locked the house and went to sleep.
On waking up the following morning, he found his wife lying lifeless at the entrance to the kitchen.
Police in Kanungu were notified and dispatched a team to the scene. The body was subsequently taken to Kambuga Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said investigations were underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
He appealed to the deceased’s relatives to remain calm as they await the findings of the postmortem examination.
