Police in Kabale District have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a 61-year-old woman whose body was discovered in Kabale Municipality on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Kyarikunda Lestituta, a resident of Omwibare Cell, Kashaki Ward, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.

In a statement, Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said officers from Kabale Central Police Station visited and documented the scene following a report of the incident.

The body was subsequently taken to the mortuary at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police have arrested a suspect identified as Mutabazi Andrew to assist with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Tumushime urged members of the public to remain calm and appealed to anyone with information that could assist investigators to report to Kabale Police.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
