The incident occurred on October 2, at Kitogota Village, Kagarama Ward, Hamuhambo Town Council, at about 5pm, according to the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime.
Preliminary reports indicate that unidentified individuals allegedly set fire to a dwelling house, destroying household property whose value is yet to be established.
No injuries or deaths were reported in the incident.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Tumushime condemned the suspected arson, describing it as a criminal act, and assured residents that investigations were underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
He also appealed to members of the public with information that could aid the investigations to report to the nearest police station.
Police have not yet disclosed the motive behind the suspected attack or whether any arrests have been made.
The investigation comes amid renewed calls for community vigilance and cooperation with security agencies in preventing and reporting criminal activities.
